In January of 2000, a restaurant chain began that enlightened the masses with its fresh creative seafood preparations, hand-shaken signature potent cocktail list, and overall welcoming and alluring ambiance. Bonefish Grill has since become a favorite of many, and is proving that luxurious decor and culinary creativity is possible in an upscale, yet casual and inviting environment. Having enjoyed numerous flavorsome and consistent memorable dining adventures at multiple BoneFish Grill locations spanning Florida’s west coast, the historic locale of Georgia’s romantic Savannah, and the golf haven of prestigious Hilton Head Island, we found ourselves venturing to the Bonefish Grill in North Charleston on our most recent sojourn through the south where the cuisine was just as savory and mouthwatering as we remembered first taking that initial bite of divine creation at a Bonefish Grill.
If you’re ready for a chilled flavor sensation, here are two we recommend when addressing the adult beverage category before dinner. One of our favorites is Bonefish Grill’s Raspberry Martini. That first sip is always as delicious as the first taste we remember some twelve years ago when we first stepped foot in a Bonefish Grill lounge. Elegant and nicely appointed in rich woods and metal sculptures, the bar area is a seductive area of involvement offering a span of refreshing and creative cocktails to suit whatever mood you may happen to be indulging in at any given moment. Made with Reyka small-batch vodka, freshly hand-muddled red raspberries, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, this martini will stay high on your mental checklist of best-loved alcoholic concoctions. Another new addition to the always intriguing list of flavors of liquid temptations at the restaurant is the Winter White Cosmo. Though not on the menu during the non-winter months of the year, just let your bartender or server know you’d like one (or three!), and they’ll be happy to accommodate your craving for this mix of Stoli Cranberry, Cointreau, fresh tangy lime juice, and white cranberry juice garnished with what else…fresh cranberries!

Bonefish Grill continues to seduce its patrons ready for a mouthwatering culinary experience with starting out by serving house baked fresh focaccia bread accompanied by a vessel of pesto and extra virgin olive oil for dipping each tender bite of this sinful bread into. One taste of this fresh-from-the-oven bread will have you craving more and more, and the pesto and olive oil mixture for dipping is sensationally refreshing.

Craving a tasty appetizer that will bring some zing into your pre-dinner tasting to go along with those tantalizing cocktails? Then there are only three words to solve that search for all-out flavor satisfaction: Bang Bang Shrimp! A favorite of the crowds of fans who fill Bonefish Grill eateries in droves, the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer is a definite favorite vote among consumers. And for our SavorHour staff as well! These crispy fried shrimp are tossed in a creamy, rich and spicy sauce atop a bed of shredded lettuce garnished lightly with parsley and other herbs. A delightful and mouthwatering beginning to any Bonefish Grill meal that just might have you ordering more before you place your dinner order.

We foraged through salads of vibrant hues and tasteful components with the Beet & Goat Cheese Salads. A fresh chilled spring mix was accompanied by pickled sweetened beets, zesty onions, sweet crunchy candied pecans, and was seamlessly tied together with a house made vinaigrette. A welcomed salad selection that we will enjoy again soon, these were savory, healthy, and bursting with layer upon layer of flavor and satisfying texture joined by the simple creaminess of the goat cheese.

My husband ordered the Rhea’s Swordfish special. In the mood for succulent residents of the sea, we both thought this presentation of wood-grilled swordfish topped with spinach, lump crab meat, and a lime-tomato garlic sauce was a true winner. An addition of a side of pumpkin ravioli made for a combined taste of sweet and savory, which was a gratifying venture.

Rounding out our evening, I chose the restaurant’s Pecan Crusted Parmesan Rainbow Trout. A sizable and perfectly-prepared trout filet coated with crushed pecans and Parmesan cheese, then lightly crisped and topped with artichoke hearts, fresh aromatic basil, and an out-of-this-world lemon butter sauce that delivered this menu selection to heights only tasting for yourself could explain properly. Joined by sides of spaghetti squash and potatoes au gratin, there wasn’t another thing I could think of at that moment to make this dish any more sublime.

Upscale, yet casual and relaxed, Bonefish Grill maintains a consistent reputation for delicious fare focused around fresh seafood and other items that will prove just how terrific their company really is. Hand shaken refreshing beverages, cuisine that is unparalleled to most other chain restaurants across the country, and an ambiance that is both comforting and pleasing to involve oneself in, this seafood restaurant rarity isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, which makes the staff at SavorHour very happy indeed!
