BOSCOS RESTAURANT & BREWING COMPANY… “Little Rock’s River Front Dining Locale!”

Serving patrons at locations in Memphis, Nashville, and Franklin in Tennessee, and also in Little Rock, Arkansas in the downtown’s River Market district, Boscos has become known for its consistent production of tasty casual cuisine, and house-brewed ales. Our readers know that we’re not beer connoisseurs, but we understand that those who do try one of the many beer variations here will not be disappointed. Boscos has been brewing award-winning handcrafted beers for more than 16 years. Just last year in 2012, the restaurant and microbrewery took home the gold medal at The 2012 World Beer Cup for their Hefewizon brew, as well as the silver medal for their popular Isle Of Skye Scottish Ale the same year. But the microbrewery isn’t the only thing that is drawing crowds. Their casual relaxed atmosphere also welcomes patrons in along with a brick-oven list of tempting edibles.

Bosco's6

Boscos hosts a pretty popular Happy Hour weekdays from Monday through Friday between 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Specials feature $5 appetizers, $5 wines, beers, and cocktails from a select menu, and handcrafted Boscos brews for only $3.50 each! Sounds fairly reasonable to us. The restaurant also presents a fantastic brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM, which offers delectable waffles, savory Benedict dishes, creative omelets, and much more to feast your eyes, and your appetite on. Additionally, Boscos provides half off specially selected wine each Wednesday, while on Mondays and Saturdays all day long, patrons can get their fill of specialty mugs of beer for only $3 each!

Above, we perused the lunch menu on a lazy Thursday afternoon. The lunch crowd had long since died down, and we almost had the entire riverfront patio to ourselves by the time we finished our meals. Refreshing beverages were served to us promptly, while a couple of glasses of wine relaxed us as we took in the scenic views all around us.

Bosco's2

What a patio! And quite a view from the outdoor dining deck at Boscos! Expansive sights of the Riverfront Pavilion and the mighty Arkansas River fill one’s visual perception, while refreshing fresh breezes visit every now and again on the waterfront patio. Such a beautiful place for a casual, delicious meal with family, friends, or even by yourself if the day allows for that.

Bosco's3Fried Chicken Salad

Atop Mesclun greens and accompanied by tomatoes, crispy bacon, and chopped egg, these perfectly-fried strips of chicken stand out with their tender and juicy flavor in every bite. Served with a savory honey-mustard dressing, we thought this dish was full of flavor, possessed a lovely crunch from the fried chicken, and encompassed healthy vegetables as well. Filling and satisfying, this was a perfect item to order while focusing on the lighter side of dining, but never lacked the sensational tastes I was craving.

Bosco's4

Asian Grilled Chicken Salad

The Asian Grilled Chicken Salad was presented with baby spinach, almonds, pickled ginger, red peppers and juicy marinated grilled chicken chunks mixed with a sweet and slightly tangy Asian vinaigrette dressing. Delicately-fried wontons were then piled atop this selection for an additional and delightful crunch and visual appeal.

Bosco's5Cesar Salad With Blackened Fish

I especially loved the Caesar Salad with blackened fish when we visited. Nicely prepared, and with a pronounced savoriness in every taste I took of it, this menu item was refreshing from the chilled salad, and warm and delicious from the tender flavorsome fish filet on top. The crunchy croutons on the salad amplified the satisfaction level for me, while the cool taste of the ranch dressing I ordered on the side was a nice compliment.

We really enjoyed our dining experience at Boscos. We shared several bites of different dishes recommended by our gracious server, and we were happy to have visited. If you’re in the Little Rock, Arkansas area, stop by Boscos in the River Market and give them a try. We think you will enjoy this restaurant and microbrewery just as much as we did.

  • ESTABLISHMENT / DECOR: A beautiful expansive deck overlooking the Arkansas River was breathtaking and such a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a meal out of doors.

  • CORKAGE FEE: $20 per 750mL bottle (Please call ahead to see if this charge has changed before visiting.)
  • PARKING: Street parking is available along President Clinton Avenue and the surrounding side streets relatively close to the establishment.

THE PENTHOUSE @ HUNTLEY HOTEL… “Sky-High Sophistication At The Huntley Hotel!”

With its awe-inspiring sweeping 360-degree views of the Santa Monica California shoreline, its lavishly-appointed ultra chic beachy motif, and fine contemporary American culinary treats crafted and meticulously presented by Executive Chef Seth Greenburg, The Penthouse Restaurant & Lounge has evolved into one of the city’s most loved destinations for charming and romancing locals and those from afar in a trendy and seductively inviting atmosphere.

Located on the eighteenth top floor of the sophisticated 240-room Huntley Hotel in beautiful Santa Monica, California, The Penthouse offers patrons expansive shoreline views from the venue’s innumerable windows providing views from the coast of Malibu to the shores of Palos Verdes on a clear day.

There’s no better way to get to The Penthouse than taking a ride in the glass-enclosed elevator, which showcases the waterfront and beaches of Santa Monica. Above are a few photos of the incredible view before reaching the top floor.

Innovative imagination and superior technique was provided in the conception of The Penthouse, (as well as the entire Huntley Hotel), by ingenious award-winning designer, Thomas Schoos. You may recall his contribution in design to such hot spot locales as TAO in New York, Koi in Los Angeles, O-Bar in West Hollywood, and the LAX Nightclub in Las Vegas…just to mention a few. His vision of simple luxury and creative insight in everything he touches allows others to appreciate his works of art. The restaurant and lounge features various inviting areas of luxurious comfort to appease just about anyone who enters this magnificent abode of heavenly adornment. From dining in one of the several semi-private intimate ‘cabanas’ to enjoying a classic cocktail in one of the plush leather chairs fireside to indulging in creative fare while sitting at the lavish ‘center-of-attention’ ultra bar, the outdoor elements are intertwined with modern touches inside in so many ways.

INSIDER’S TIP: Enjoy a breathtaking view by arriving before sunset. The skyline will astonish you, while the fading day’s light will welcome a romantic and sexy vibe as candles are lit and the evening brings on a swanky, sexy vibe.

Veev Acai Spirit With Cucumber Honey Lemonade

We regret not having had the opportunity to meet Resident Mixologist, Ryan Magarian, but we were thoroughly entertained and well taken care of by our bartender, Mike. The hand-shaken featured cocktail of the evening when we visited was the Veev Acai Spirit with Cucumber Honey Lemonade ($7). We each indulged in one of these flavorful concoctions at The Penthouse’s sizable luxurious circular bar and almost in unison, we ordered a second round once we were halfway finished with our first. Not over lemony, and just the perfect blend of spirit and cucumber flavor topped off with a light finish of honey. Refreshing and light-tasting, this libation was definitely worthy of a second round.

Since we didn’t have a lot of time to delight in the menu, (we were meeting friends in the area), we decided to try a couple of appetizers from the Sunset Hour menu. Executive Chef Seth Greenburg’s culinary expertise is evident throughout each taste of creative genius on the menu with unique options and detailed presentation. We only wished we had more time to try more of them while we were there!

Our second round of cocktails appeared before us, and we selected the Warm Goat’s Cheese Poppers and two versions of the Short Rib Tacos…

Warm Goat’s Cheese Poppers

I must admit that anything with goat’s cheese usually fast becomes a favorite of mine. As a lover of this creamy, tangy-flavored cheese, I knew that these would be enjoyable. I expected a lot. And that was delivered to us. We were presented with a plate of excellently arranged deep-fried orbs of perfection. Crisp on the outside and warm and creamy on the inside with tiny pieces of jalapeno pepper mixed into the cheese. The light crunch of each popper delivered immediate satisfaction, while the smooth flavorful centers introduced a sensational essence to our taste buds for just $7 an order.

Short Rib Tacos

After sharing an order of the Warm Goat’s Cheese poppers, my husband and I each got an order of the Short Rib Tacos ($7). My husband’s had no relish on his, as he tries to avoid spicier foods and garnishes. I, on the other hand, love spicy cuisine, so I ordered mine with the apple-jalapeno relish that comes with them. Served two tacos to an order, these hearty mini hors d’ oeuvres arrived with tender and savory-to-the-last-bite saucy short rib meat encased in crunchy house made taco shells. Guacamole and spicy salsa added, these tasty gems were worth waiting for.

Though enjoyable while we were there, we really wished we could have stayed a bit longer to sample more of the menu items available. We plan to return to The Penthouse for drinks and dinner to experience the full display of Executive Chef Greenburg’s culinary excellence in the future.

  • ESTABLISHMENT / DECOR: The beach-chic decor and upscale sophisticated flair of this establishment allows for a relaxed ambiance perfectly suited for enjoying a bite at the bar, cocktails or a full meal.

RED’S ICE HOUSE @ BOHICKET MARINA… “Best View of the Water On Johns Island!”

Close-by Johns Island is a coastal barrier island in South Carolina popular for it’s picturesque views, coastal ocean wooded habitats, and Angel Oak, a 65-foot tall live oak tree believed to be between 500 and 1,500 years old! On neighboring Seabrook Island is Red’s Ice House located at the beautiful Bohicket Marina conveniently inshore between Johns and Kiawah Islands. The casual ambiance, flavorsome food and stunning sunsets over Bohicket Creek, which leads out to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean will leave you breathless with picturesque memories of a pastel-filled evening sky and great times with friends and family.

Whether arriving via watercraft or just driving into the Bohicket Marina parking lot in the front of Red’s Ice House, you’ll probably be surprised by what you find inside. Red’s is not your typical waterside marina restaurant. Despite it’s casual and boater-friendly appeal, eclectic relaxed decor and laid back casual ambiance, it is a dining establishment worth visiting. Though not fine dining, the quality of the food here is fun, fresh and comforting.

Above, our view from the upper outdoor deck overlooking the Bohicket Marina where we were seated with our party. We enjoyed expansive unobstructed views as we awaited the popular ‘sunset watch’ that’s very popular among locals there.

The menu is fairly extensive. Offering popular items from New England Lobster Rolls, Grouper Sandwiches and Hamburgers to Fish & Chips, Chowders, Salads and Fried Shrimp Po’Boys, Red’s also serves up some pretty tasty cocktails, wine and other alcoholic libations. Red’s Happy Hour presented daily from 4PM-7PM is also a fun place to mingle with regulars and locals.

We were there for a few nibbles and a couple of drinks en route to a friend’s home for dinner. While there, we enjoyed Red’s ‘Good Ol’ Nachos. Quite possibly the best nacho dish I have ever had. A pile of crispy tri-colored tortilla chips covered with melted white cheddar cheese and jalapenos then accompanied by an offering of sour cream and salsa. I’m not sure exactly where Red’s is getting their white cheddar cheese from, but if someone finds out, please let me know because it was incredible!

Good ‘Ol Nachos

Coconut Shrimp

The Coconut Shrimp are prepared and breaded with real shredded coconut and served with a tropical dipping sauce that’s like nothing we’ve ever experienced when eating this type of shrimp preparation. Simply and uniquely delicious!

Red’s Rockin’ Crab Dip

Another item we really appreciated was the Red’s Rockin’ Crab Dip. If you’re looking for a sinful crab dip, this is the best place to get it! Made with lump crab meat, cream cheese, and spices, this ridiculously sensational dip is then topped with chopped pecans and scallions. Red, white and blue tortilla chips enhance the look of this appetizer. If you like your crab dip warm, no problem! Because the friendly accommodating staff will gladly heat it up before serving it to you. Very nice on a cool evening as the sun begins to set beyond the horizon.

Red’s Ice House is a terrific casual and unpretentious establishment serving up classic pub food and seafood items sure to leave diners satisfied and certain to bring them back again and again.

  • ESTABLISHMENT / DECOR: Casual, marina-esque decor with smiling staff and a tremendous upper deck that allows for terrific views of the sunset over the docked water vessels at Bohicket Marina just steps from the restaurant.
  • FOOD / DRINK: Mostly pub food and casual fare that hits a real home run for those searching for a quick bite or a long lingering sunset cocktail and snack location.
  • LOCATION: 1882 Andell Bluff Boulevard at the Bohicket Marina on Seabrook Island, SC 29455.
  • HOURS: Red’s opens daily at 11:30AM, but be sure to give then a call if you’re stopping by to ensure information about any time changes.
  • SERVICE / STAFF: Friendly, generous with menu suggestions and seem to have a good time working there.
  • PRICE/ VALUE: Great prices, great value and the perfect place to visit with friends after docking your watercraft in the marina.
  • CORKAGE FEE: $15 per bottle.
  • PARKING: Whether driving in via boat or by car, there is ample parking available.
  • TOTAL BILL: Our total bill was just under $60, but with six people in our party and a couple of rounds of drinks between all of us, that’s not bad considering the view, the courteous staff and fresh cooked fare.

PARADISO 37 @ DISNEY’S PLEASURE ISLAND… “A Pre-Celebratory Drink Turns Into a Full Dinner!”

My husband and I had to meet an associate of his for a celebratory drink. They had just closed a fairly large deal during one of the many meetings they had attended in Orlando together. We decided to keep it to a minimum since we were having a formal celebration the next evening, so after a few drinks together with the others, my husband and I decided we would just nibble a little while there. We all met at Paradiso 37-Taste of the Americas, a Latin American waterfront restaurant inside Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island.

It was after dark by the time my husband and I caught up with his associate and his wife and children. They had the right idea…have meetings in Orlando….have the family enjoy themselves in the parks and other offerings Mickey has to offer while you’re in said meetings all day. Smart. Being in an off-resort hotel a few minutes away, this excursion was a refreshing venture and even brought the kid out in both of us a little.

Our waiter told us that Paradiso 37 got its name from the one-of-a-kind tequila tower bar above, which encases 37 different varieties of tequila. From our outside table, the view of the tower bar was intriguing and colorful to admire. Not a huge lover of tequila, I do find myself indulging once in a while in a great margarita…

Signature Paradiso 37 Margarita

The above libation was not only vibrant in color, but also as amazing a margarita I had ever remembered experiencing in my life. Our server convinced me that this Signature Paradiso 37 Margarita with a pear nectar enhancement would be a definite winner. I concurred and was delighted by the result placed before me. In fact, I had two of these stunning libations!

Hmmm…what to have…what to have. My husband and I just wanted a little something to nibble on since we were enjoying Paradiso 37′s margaritas and we wound up being very bad. We ordered fried food! But delicious it was indeed. Below, the Caribbean Crab & Fish Fritters…

Caribbean Crab and Fish Fritters

Loving the presentation of this succulent treat, we also appreciated the tender combination of crab meat, shrimp, fish, peppers and cilantro inside the crunchy fried-to-perfection exterior of each one of these delectable morsels. Served with a chilled coconut-lime dipping sauce ($8.99), these savory and scrumptious bites were satisfying and filling at the same time.

Somehow a third margarita appeared in front of me, so my husband and I just decided to order a couple of light entrees since we had been drinking more than we planned. (It was a pre-celebratory occasion anyway, right?)

We ordered two of Paradiso 37′s signature specials recommended by our server…the Baha Fish Taco entree and the Paradiso 37 Burrito Plate…

Baha Fish Taco Entree

The above beautifully-arranged items composed the Baha Fish Taco entree. My husband ordered this dish, and devoured it happily. The sectioned dinner plate it was served on showed off the soft flour tortilla-encased taco ingredients of lightly-fried seasonal fish, roasted corn salsa, lime crema (a rich, slightly sour, lightly-thickened cream used in Mexican cooking resembling a thin sour cream), spicy slaw and a tortilla salad ($14.99).

I love a great burrito! Therefore, I chose the Paradiso 37 Burrito Plate with succulent beef in a flour tortilla joined by sauteed peppers, squash, red onions, imported cheeses, sweet chipotle BBQ sauce, then added in a generous portion was a pile of cilantro rice and black beans beside it ($14.99). I LOVED the cilantro rice. It was light, had a great taste, and the light green hue was impressive and distinct. The burrito itself was juicy, full of sensational flavor and I seemed to be in some sort of complacent heaven once I finished it.

Paradiso 37 Burrito Plate

After our ‘only drinks’ theory turned into a lovely meal with our dinner companions, the only thing left to do was drive back to our hotel and prepare for our next evening out. But Paradiso 37 was a real treat for us. Upscale Latin fare for extremely reasonable prices right on the waterfront. And we were even serenaded by a vocalist playing a guitar off to one side of the patio!

  • ESTABLISHMENT / DECOR: Colorful and intriguing use of space both indoors and outside on the expansive patio. Live entertainment and refreshing breezes are a welcoming experience when dining out of doors, while the Tower Bar, both inside and outside of the restaurant develops conversation among dining patrons.
  • FOOD / DRINK: Delicious, fresh and vibrantly-colorful presentations are appreciated at this establishment. Stunning flavorful cocktails…especially their margaritas…are prepared with care and proudly served.
  • LOCATION: Paradiso 37 is located within Downtown Disney’s Pleasure Island at 1590 East Buena Vista Drive in Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830.
  • HOURS: Sunday through Thursday from 11:30AM – 12AM, then on Friday and Saturday from 11:30AM – 1AM.
  • SERVICE / STAFF: Our server was friendly, efficient, kept us laughing and gave us reliable suggestions about what we should try on the menu.
  • PRICE / VALUE: Slightly higher than if off the Disney property, but hey, it’s Disney…there’s always a premium at the park. But we were fine with paying a little more for the service and quality food, service and atmosphere we enjoyed.
  • CORKAGE FEE: $15 per bottle.
  • PARKING: We experienced complimentary parking in the spacious lot in front of Pleasure Island, which allows easy access to the main entrance of this particular section of Disney World. Valet parking is also available for a small fee.
  • TOTAL BILL: For two entrees, four margaritas and an appetizer, our total bill came in a bit over $60 (including tax), which was fine considering what a great time we had, what terrific cuisine we enjoyed, what exceptional service we were rendered and the great location of the restaurant on the waterfront.

MARSHSIDE MAMA’S WATERFRONT CAFE… “Rustic Dining On the River!”

Have you ever traveled to your dining destination via a relaxing cruise with friends on a pontoon boat? Also known as ‘party boats’, these leisure vehicles are very popular in the south and allow for hours of fun under the sun with friends and family or cruising along just before sunset to take in the evening’s palate of colors. We recently accompanied friends on a ritual ride to Daufuskie (pronounced ‘duh-fuss-key’) Island in South Carolina ourselves and enjoyed a local eatery called Marshside Mama’s!

Part of the charm of Marshside Mama’s is just getting there. Accessible only by water if you don’t live on the island, our group left from one of the Hilton Head Island marinas and crossed the Calibogue Sound anticipating the traditional southern fare served here. Daufuskie Island is an undeveloped residential sea island located between Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC that still maintains its natural charm. Roughly eight square miles of southern tranquility, the island offers a lighthouse built in 1873, rare tabby ruins, historic graveyards and many more unique sites one can visit while here. Daufuskie Island happily welcomes visitors and tourists alike to tour the island.

I snapped several photos of the view on our serene boat ride from one island to the next. I really enjoyed the untouched attributes this island has to offer. Also serving as inspiration to local artists and writers alike, Daufuskie Island gained national recognition as the setting of Pat Conroy’s novel The Water Is Wide in 1972. Additionally, the island was named a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places due to its Gullah and Civil War history.

Once we docked our watercraft, we walked along the dock and arrived at Marshside Mama’s. Massive moss-strewn oaks hovered overhead and the view of the surrounding marsh was just stunning from our table. We met a few visitors and chatted with several locals we knew as well. After our party enjoyed a few refreshing cocktails, we were ready to dine at this casual boater-friendly locale.

The menu at Marshside Mama’s is simple. There are no frills here. But then again, there don’t have to be. The enchantment and fascination of the environment is enough extravagance for anyone. The above poster board sized sign is given to the table and passed around for diners to choose their selections. This menu changes daily, and offered us many items from Shrimp and Grits to fresh Carolina seafood choices to BBQ Baby Back Ribs.

How huge is this salad! This was great. Comprised of crisp lettuces, locally-grown tomatoes, yellow bell peppers, sliced carrots and a delectable vinaigrette, this basin of happiness was devoured in no time as we waited for our remaining orders to arrive…

Marshside Mama’s House Salad

The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was sensational. Creamy and lighter-tasting than other traditional dips of the same name, I literally could have eaten an entire bowl of this myself…

Spinach & Artichoke Dip

Behold…the BEST gumbo I ever remember having in my entire life! Having lived in the South for most of my life, that’s saying a lot.  I’m not sure what went into this dish besides tender loving care, but whatever it was I would like the recipe please! Seriously.

Seafood Gumbo

When in the South, Shrimp and Grits are a popular favorite. There are several variations to this southern delight. This version above was by far one of my favorite preparations that I’ve had in a long time, however…

Marshside Mama’s Shrimp & Grits

The Grilled Mahi Mahi & Shrimp plate was another alternative. Cooked to perfection, this moderately-flavored flaky fish was enhanced with fresh jumbo shrimp, a side of white rice, a lemon wedge and garnished with a sprinkling of green onions…

Grilled Mahi Mahi & Shrimp

Goodbye, Daufuskie Island! Above, the wake behind our boat as we headed back to the Hilton Head Island marina as I watched Daufuskie island slowly disappear in the distance. Below, the evening’s approach as the sun began to set.

We really enjoyed our visit to Marshside Mama’s. It was nice to let our hair down, settle back and to not have to be concerned about just being ourselves with good friends, great food and the sound of the tide washing against the banks of Daufuskie Island.

  • ESTABLISHMENT / DECOR: The beachy decor will force you to relax and remember that you came here to do just that! Don’t expect white tablecloths and a sommelier’s wine suggestions because you won’t find that here. What you will find is a local boater’s abode with a friendly essence and an overpowering sense of island life. Plastic chairs and tablecloths at the tables, hovering southern oaks overhead, a couple of canines from local residents roaming around and a full bar attached to the main building all combine to equal one thing…fun! Don’t let the relaxed casual ambiance discourage you, because you would only be missing out a great and memorable experience!
  • FOOD / DRINK:  Marshside Mama’s offers a full bar and a southern-style menu with local favorites and traditional choices. You just can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here.
  • LOCATION: Marshside Mama’s is only accessible by water for non-residents, and is located at 15 Haig Point Road on Daufuskie Island, SC 29915.
  • HOURS: Don’t forget to call for reservations at this island eatery. Despite what you may think about it’s casual ambiance and laid-back feel, the restaurant does book up for lunch and dinner quickly due to it’s popularity. Closed on Mondays, Marshside Mama’s is open for lunch Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 3 PM and on Sundays from noon to 5 PM. Dinner is served Wednesdays through Saturdays from 6 PM to 10 PM.
  • SERVICE / STAFF: Efficient, friendly and they seem to enjoy what they’re doing.
  • PRICE / VALUE: Price concerns are not an option here. We were very satisfied with what we paid for what we received.
  • CORKAGE FEE: $15 per bottle.
  • CONTACT INFO: Phone: (843) 785 – 4755, Website: www.marshsidemamas.com. (Don’t forget to call ahead for reservations, to see what’s on the menu board and to check if there are any private parties going on before you visit.)
  • PARKING: Just pull your watercraft up to the dock outside of Marshside Mama’s, tie up and forget about everything!
  • TOTAL BILL: Our total bill came in just over $70 (including tax) for three main entrees, the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, a large salad for the table and a few drinks. Not bad at all!

DUNE RESTAURANT @ ONE & ONLY OCEAN CLUB… Rated “Chicest Restaurant In the Bahamas” By Travel & Leisure!

On Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas there sits the flagship restaurant of the One & Only Ocean Club Resort named Dune. A Jean-Georges Vongerichten exclusive dining establishment, this pleasurable restaurant with sensational ocean views from its cliff top perch will amaze you with its island beauty, classic simplicity and renowned Bahamian-influenced French-Asian cuisine.

Above, the view of the Dune Bar adjacent to the main restaurant from the beach. Below, the restaurant and bar entrances…

When in the Bahamas, why not enjoy a refreshing Bahama Mama at the Dune bar? Before we went into the restaurant, we sipped on the below cocktails and watched the sun set over the ocean and the magic of nightfall arrive…

Bahama Mama Cocktails

The Dune bar is stunning after dark falls over the island. Its back-lit marbled appeal compliments the Bahamian feel as island breezes visit then leave then revisit here on a continual basis…

We were retrieved for dinner once we finished our savory beverages and admired the breathtaking sunset. It was time to indulge in yet another Jean-Georges renowned establishment with amazingly tantalizing fare and unparalleled skilled service…

Chicken Samosas

We started with the Chicken Samosas above…the fresh cilantro and yogurt sauce inside was a pleasant contrast to the zesty vinaigrette on the vegetable conglomeration beneath, while the light crunchy exterior of the dish created a celebratory beginning to dinner…

Bahamian Conch Salad

When in the Bahamas, do as the Bahamians do…eat conch! The above is a photo of Dune’s refreshing and flavorful Bahamian Conch Salad served with fresh lime and a spicy puree for those who enjoy a little heat. I enjoyed extra fresh-squeezed lime juice on this dish, while my husband preferred it the way it was prepared. Either way, it is a festive visual and flavorful presentation that will not soon be forgotten…

Veal Chop Spiked With Sage, Papaya Mustard & Madiera Jus

The Veal Chop spiked with sage, papaya mustard and Madeira jus impressed my husband so much that he had the chef come out to our table so he could compliment his outstanding efforts once our meal was completed. Succulent, tender and a flavor sensation!

Sirloin Of Beef With Mushrooms

I chose the Sirloin Of Beef. Gingered with mushrooms and a soy caramel emulsion, this large portion of beef was too large for me to finish, but was a deliciously-prepared and quite palatable…

A carafe of hot Bahamian coffee after dinner back in the bar was pleasing to us both as we sipped our mocha and listened to the ocean waves crash onto the shore just below us on Cabbage Beach.

  • ESTABLISHMENT / DECOR: Designed in a British Colonial style, the Dune bar and restaurant offer an island feel with an intimate setting. Very deserving of its “chicest restaurant in the Bahamas” rating by Travel + Leisure!
  • FOOD / DRINK: The fresh fare and island beverages have a reputation that precedes them. Culinary excellence abounds at Dune, while the quality and portion size of the offered items is very satisfactory.
  • LOCATION: Dune is located at the One & Only Ocean Club Resort on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas.
  • HOURS: The Dune Bar is open daily from noon to midnight, breakfast is served daily from 7 AM – 11 AM, lunch is offered daily between noon and 3 PM, and dinner is presented every evening from 6 PM – 10 PM.
  • SERVICE / STAFF: Attentive and professional, the staff calculates patrons’ desires and responds accordingly and in a timely manner.
  • PRICE / VALUE: Exceptional value for the asked prices. Between the world-renowned cuisine, breathtaking panoramic beach and ocean views and superb service staff, there is no doubt this is a tremendous value!
  • CORKAGE: Expect to pay at least $25 per bottle at this fine establishment.
  • CONTACT INFO: Phone: +(888) 865-6829, Website: www.jean-georges.com (click on “DUNE” on the main page for restaurant information.
  • PARKING: Our vehicle was held with the property’s Valet when we checked in earlier in the day, so we did not have to drive as Dune is on property. However, the resort has shuttle service arrangements to and from the area for those that are staying at Atlantis on the other side of town. There are also taxis available around the clock to assist if needed.
  • TOTAL BILL: Our final bill at the end of the night was just under $200, but we highly recommend it due to the quality of the cuisine, atmosphere and spectacular service we received.
